The Greene
County Council on Aging is committed to providing
information and support to Greene County caregivers,
regardless of where their older loved ones live. We
recognize that it is family, friends and neighbors who
provide most of the care to our seniors and they are a
priority for the Council.
In
addition to providing information on local and
out-of-state resources, the Council sponsors a number of
caregiver groups, providing an opportunity for
individuals to come together and share their stories,
learn from each other, and recognize that they are not
alone. The groups are free and reservations are not
required. A listing of the group locations, days and
times are below.
The
Council also offers education programs such as
Communicating Effectively with Health Care
Professionals, Planning for Residential Care, and
collaborative programs with the Miami Valley Chapter of
the Alzheimer's Association and OSU Extension. Twice a
year (Spring and Fall), the Council sponsors day-long
Caregiver Tune-Ups. These are special days just for
caregivers of seniors, providing an opportunity to enjoy
a brief break from their care giving responsibilities
and focus on their own physical and emotional health.
Dates of Caregiver Tune-Ups are listed under Community
Events.
