Statement on Racism from your Council

This is an extremely challenging time across our country and throughout our Greene County communities. The pain and difficulties of surviving each day have been profoundly exacerbated by the racial injustices which cannot be ignored. Racism impacts people of all ages, including our elders. For many elders, they have experienced racism and systemic oppression their entire lives, which is both heartbreaking and unacceptable. Your Council has the honor of being a resource and source of support for the elders and caregivers of Greene County. We are here to enhance quality of life and not detract from it. And just as we have a responsibility to speak out against ageism, elder abuse and exploitation, we also have a responsibility to speak out against any type of racism.
