Virtual, or Online, Events

To participate in an online virtual event, you need a desktop computer or laptop with a camera and a microphone, and an internet connection. Note all laptops come with a camera and microphone, but most desktops do not. It is not possible to attend via smartphone.

GCCOA uses GoToMeeting for the virtual events; this is similar to Zoom but more secure. You do not need to install software on your computer.

  1. You must register in advance for an event. We will mail you materials, if any.

  2. On the day of the event, we will send you an email invitation. The email will include a link to the meeting with instructions.

  3. Prepare for the meeting by making sure your computer is connected to the internet. If using a laptop, make sure it has enough battery.

  4. Join the meeting at the designated time by clicking the link in the email.

  5. Talk and listen. Make sure your audio and video are on.
The person speaking is indicated in the meeting window.

  6. When you're ready to leave the meeting, click the icon at the top of the meeting window, then confirm that you want to leave.
